Spring Session


Introduction to Climate Change

Upcoming sessions:

  • Intro to Climate Change, Grades 1-5 (ONLINE): Tuesdays at 4:45-5:45PM, from April 16th to June 11th
  • Intro to Climate Change, Grades 1-5 (IN-PERSON in Redmond): Thursdays at 5:00-6:00PM, from May 2nd to June 20th

Weekly meetings will consist of interactive and educational material regarding climate change and injustice. All elementary-age children are eligible.

Main learning targets include:

  • I understand what climate change means
  • I understand how the greenhouse effect causes global warming
  • I understand the different things that put greenhouse gases in the air
  • I understand how scientists know what we are learning, and I know where to get access to accurate information about the climate. I understand that some adults misunderstand this crisis, but it doesn't mean it's not real.
  • I understand how a rise in global temperatures hurts the environment and groups of people and animals around the world
  • I understand how we can replace fossil fuels with green energy sources
  • I understand what I can do as an individual to reduce my carbon footprint
  • I understand how to talk to others about climate change and living sustainably

Kids will also develop valuable leadership and communication skills through collaboration with peers and personal initiative. They will have the opportunity to showcase their learning through a culminating project.

Sustainable Living (all grades)

Upcoming session:

  • Mondays at 4:45-5:45PM, from April 15th to June 10th

Weekly meetings will consist of engaging lessons regarding sustainability, with a strong emphasis on personal action and reducing carbon footprint. Topics include recycling, composting, consumerism, and more. All elementary-age children are eligible, but completion of our Intro to Climate Change program is strongly recommended before enrollment in our Sustainable Living program!

Students will have weekly challenges to create sustainable habits. Working as a team, they will gather points by completing them to level up and earn fun rewards!

Environmental Innovations (grades 4-5)

Upcoming session:

  • Wednesdays at 5:30-6:30PM, from April 17th to June 12th
Weekly meetings will consist of brief lessons about local environmental issues, discussion of the innovations being presented to address the given issue, and interactive activities that foster widely transferrable skills. These skills will be used for our final project, in which students will create a proposal for their own innovation to address a local environmental challenge!

Completion/concurrent enrollment in our Intro to Climate Change program is recommended but not required.
